Senior Network Engineer (M/F)


Who we are:

LuxProvide is the national supercomputer HPC organization in charge of the planning, installation and long term operation of the same. For our recently set up organization and HPC infrastructure, we are seeking for a Network Engineer to join the core team in charge of the design, implementation and operation of the same. You will be come part of a high performance team of experts with the unique opportunity to contribute to the initial planning and installation of the whole HPC infrastructure.


The tasks:

  • As part of the first team on the ground, you will be in charge of designing, implementing and further operating all the network related aspects of the HPC infrastructure
  • Design, install, configure, tune and maintain Ethernet and high performance/low latency interconnect (such as Infiniband) networks
  • Participate in designing and implementing new network solutions
  • Contribute to the design and plans for integration of HPC services and servers within the network
  • Install, configure and support network equipment such as routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, firewalls and VPN solutions
  • Set up and manage network configurations and rules such as VLANs, OSPF, BGP, ACLs
  • Install and manage network services such as email gateways/relays, reverse proxies, DNS, NTP, DHCP, PXE, data transfer services as well as network monitoring tools and solutions maximizing network performance
  • Investigate and resolve faults in the networks and report to management and key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of security tools, policies and procedures
  • Participate if needed in 24/7 on-call support rotating shifts to resolve urgent issues with mission-critical network systems and services


Skills and Requirements:

  • University degree in computer science, computer systems and networks, computer engineering or a closely related field
  • Proven working experience (+5 years) in network infrastructure, services and security planning, development and management, preferably in a large scale Enterprise environment or Supercomputing centre
  • Sound experience with Ethernet and Infiniband networks and of data network products such as datacentre-level routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, load balancers as well as VPN and proxy solutions
  • Solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP model, network security best practices and of various networking and data transfer protocols
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with network configuration including VLANs, OSPF, BGP, ACLs
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Fluency in English and strong verbal/written communication skills is required. German and/or French is a plus
